Cliff Vanover has created a map of Newport south of Memorial Boulevard, embracing the Cliff Walk and Bellevue Avenue, that revives the lost art of map making. What do modern cartography and modern architecture have in common? A hatred for detail is one thing, as ugly a thing in a map as it is in a building - and in both cases ugliness and ineptitude skip along hand in hand. Readers will immediately sense something new and different in this map. Those who want more ... detail ... can get it in Thursday's column.
