LONDON -- Oil prices climbed above $84 a barrel on Tuesday on hopes the economic fallout from the financial crisis would be curbed by U.S. and European government pledges to pump capital into the banking sector, according to The Associated Press. Light, sweet crude for November delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up $3.37 to $84.56 a barrel in electronic trading by middayn Europe. The contract rose $3.49 to settle at $81.19 on Monday. |
