Car and Driver reported that, The White House announced today that GM and Chrysler must cease participation in NASCAR at the end of the 2009 season if they hope to receive any additional financial aid from the government. Car & Driver thought it was an obvious prank; those prone to high dudgeon took it seriously. Oops. Story yanked. Car and Driver has a proud tradition of irreverent editorial and we amplify that each year with our April Fools' Day joke.
