A transcendentally high time seemed to be had by all Saturday night at Radio City Music Hall on behalf of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace.

Jon Pareles at the Times' ArtsBeat blog: Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Reunite at Radio City.

As the concert's entire lineup-including Donovan, Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Moby, Bettye LaVette, Ben Harper and Mike Love (from the Beach Boys)-filled the stage, Mr. Starr took his place at the second drum kit. And Mr. McCartney unveiled a song that could suprise even Beatles fanatics: "Cosmically Conscious," an excerpt of which appeared as a hidden track on his 1993 album "Off the Ground."

Filmmaker RetroFreak84 at YouTube:

Part ONE. On April 4, 2009 in New York City and Radio City Music Hall I had a chance to go to the Paul McCartney and Friends Change Begins Within Concert sponsoring the David Lynch Foundation. The acts I filmed in part one include:

Jerry Seinfeld- Standup
Ringo Starr- It Don't Come Easy
Ringo Starr- Yellow Submarine
Paul McCartney- Baby You Can Drive My Car
Paul McCartney- Jet

Part One leads with Jerry Seinfeld saying he's been meditating 37 years. "In life you find relaxation wherever you find it. You need to find it. You need to have it."

Part Two opens with Paul McCartney at the piano, where he does a passionate Let It Be. Sound is excellent, except for a few moments when a shutter can be heard and the sound cuts out for a still shot. Let It Be is complete, followed by a pastiche.

The acts I filmed in part two include:

Paul McCartney- Let it Be
Paul McCartney- BlackBird
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr- A Little Help From My Friends

The concert was fantastic (and was recorded for PBS) as this cast of legendary musicians flowed through set after set of inspiring rock and roll with many artists making guest appearances on songs for others. During the many stage set ups David Lynch, Laura Dern, Howard Stern and Jerry Seinfeld added comments and comedy on the positive influence Transcendental Meditation has had in their lives. Background film clips of youngsters in schools around the world who practice TM gave us hope for a new era of peace and happiness. A charming and delightful evening that transcended all my expectations! http://www.tm.org

Thanks for this great article on the Paul McCartney concert. I was at the concert and it was beyond expectation - simply wonderful. And in support of the great cause to bring Transcendental Meditation to "at-risk" children schools. I have been doing TM for many years and know first-hand of its great effect in reducing stress. Well done David Lynch, and thanks to all involved.

Kudos to these celebrities for donating their time to help the children of the world! Kids are exposed to so many bad influences from movies, TV, Internet and probably in many cases from the schools they attend. They get bombarded with violence, materialism, drugs and alcohol. The TM technique strengthens people in such a way that they have better mental health, improved social behavior and decreased use of toxic substances, such as alcohol and tobacco. The children you who learn TM because of this program are very fortunate.
